Description

The tuberose is a night-blooming plant native to Mexico, as is every other known species of Polianthes.It grows in elongated spikes up to 45 cm (18 in) long that produce clusters of fragrant waxy white flowers that bloom from the bottom towards the top of the spike. It has long, bright green leaves clustered at the base of the plant and smaller, clasping leaves along the stem.

Planting and care

When blooms are spent and foliage is yellowed, bulbs must be dug up and stored for winter protection in northern areas. 1. To grow Rajnigandha bulbs in pot, choose a pot having of 7-10 inch upper diameter and drainage holes.
2. Fill the 1/3 pot with well drained soil which is rich in organic content and place the Rajnigandha bulb in the center of the pot.
3. Fill the remaining pot with same soil.
4. Keep the plant in indirect bright light location for 2-3 days and then gradually move to a location that receives at least 4-6 hours of direct bright sunlight.
