What does a fern plant look like?

It depends on the species of Ferns plants but most of the Ferns have some similar character like the leaves of ferns are called fronds and they all have different sizes, shapes and textures. There are the tiny, soft fronds of maidenhair ferns, the fronds of many ferns begin as small, curled balls as they grow, they change shape and start to look like the neck of a violin. All ferns have spores that look like small dots on the undersides of the fronds.

How to plant fern bulbs?

To plant consider the following points
1. To grow plant in pot, choose a pot having of 5-7 inch upper diameter and drainage holes.
2. Fill the 1/3 pot with well drained soil rich in organic content and place the plant in the center of the pot.
3. Fill the remaining pot with same soil.
4. Keep the plant in indirect bright light location for 2-3 days.
5. Once the plant is overgrown in current pot, plant it in field. If you are planting purchased plant directly in ground follow below procedure.
1. Keep the plant in indirect bright light for 3-4 days and gradually move to a location receiving indirect bright light.
2. Dig a pit twice the size of the bag/pot the current plant is in.
3. Fill the 1/3 of pit with soil rich in organic content, place the plant in center and fill the pit with same soil.
4. Apply water. General caring tips- Plant should get indirect bright light. Water the plant when surface soil (1-2 inch) feels dry to touch. Apply any organic fertilizer during the main growing season (June July).

Do fern plants need a lot of water?

No Ferns doesnt need lot of water like other plants . Just apply water when top soil (1-2 inches) feels dry to touch.

Can fern grow indoors?

Yes, you can grow Fern indoors wherever indirect bright light is available. Also Ferns require more humidity.

How to revive the fern plant?

Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants, and water it when top soil (1-2 inches) feels dry to touch. For any insect attack or disease, you can use Neem oil, Eucalyptus oil or Citrus oil spray for primary treatment. Avoid it from harsh sunlight and keep it in shade location. Apply any balanced organic fertilizer and apply water immediately after fertilizer application.

You can repot your fern plants if you seen these signs.
1. If the plants overgrown in the current pot.
2. If roots are growing through the drainage hole at the bottom of the planter.
3. If roots are pushing the plant up, out of the planter.

1. Sunlight- Indirect bright light is required.
2. Soil- Soil should be well drained, fertile and nutrient rich.
