Description

Figwort is a perennial herb of the Scrophulariaceae or the figwort family. It can grow up to 120 cm in height and has a horizontal rhizome with bulbous, tuber-shaped joints and side shoots.

The genus Scrophularia of the family Scrophulariaceae comprises about 200 species of herbaceous flowering plants commonly known as figworts.

Planting and care

Grow in moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Best in part shade. Thrives in sandy loams.

Figwort care

It is hardy to zone (UK) 7 and is not frost tender. It is in flower from Jun to September, and the seeds ripen from Jul to September. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Bees, wasps.Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils.
It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Loved it! utmost care taken

I really loved the care taken. The plants arrived in healthy condition and well packaged as you can see in the pictures. The pots and plate is genuine ceramic. It came with care instructions for each plant. I have recommended these to my family as well.

Ordered for five plants
