Red Russian Kale is a hardy, cool-season green plant that is part of the cabbage family. It grows best in the spring and fall and can tolerate fall frosts.Its Stems are purple, leaves are flat, toothed, and dark green with purple veins.

The plants mature medium-tall and leaves are tender compared to other kales. Leaves are used for salads and light cooking.
