Description

It is a robust, erect, annual herb. it is a source of the ayurvedic drug, Kokilaaksha and the Unani drug, Talimakhana.

It is a robust, erect, annual herb fascicled, with many roots at the base of the stem, It is 50 to 60 cm. The stems are sub-quadrangular with thickened nodes. The leaves are simple, opposite, subsessile, with a yellow spine in its axil.

The flowers are pale, purple-blue, sessile, mostly in axillary whorls- densely clustered. Fruits are oblong, glabrous capsules. Seeds seem like the eye of a cuckoo.

3. Fill the 1/3 of pit with soil rich in organic content, place the plant in center and fill the pit with same soil.
4. Apply water. General caring tips- Plant should get at least 4-6 hours of direct bright sunlight a day. Water the plant when surface soil (1-2 inch) feels dry to touch. Apply any organic fertilizer during the main growing season (Dec-Jan).
