Planting and care

Daylilies should be divided every three to four yea The best time to transplant or divide plants is in early springor immediately after they finish flowering. Dig the entire plant up and gently pull the leaf fans apart,with each division having a minimum of 3 fans. Replant divisions 18 -36 apart.

How to trim a daylily plant?

Cut dead leaves out at the base of the plant with shears. Trim down damaged leaves to the undamaged area or remove them completely, as desired. Trim out dead and damaged leaves at any time during the growing season, from spring through fall. Prune old flower stems 1 to 2 inches from the base, but leave the green foliage on the plant. Do this once the buds have opened and finished blooming. Prune the plant to within 2 inches of the ground once the foliage begins to yellow and die back in fall. Remove the old plant material and discard it.

5. Once the plant is overgrown in current pot, plant it in field. If you are planting bulbs directly in ground follow below procedure.
1. Select location receiving direct bright sunlight for 4-6 hours a day and soil should be nutrient rich and well drained.
2. Dig a hole up to 3-5 inch and Set the bulb in the hole pointy side up or the roots down.
3. After planting back fill with soil over the hole, lightly compress the soil but do not pack it and water gently.
4. Apply water. General caring tips- Plant should get 4-6 hours of direct bright sunlight a day. Water the plant when surface soil (1-2 inch) feels dry to touch. Apply any organic fertilizer during the main growing season (June July).
