You can propagate tillandsia from seed, but it takes two to four years to grow the plant to a suitable size for enjoyment. The best way to propagate tillandsia is through the division of the offsets, or pups. The time to do the task is during the morning hours or early afternoon. It thrives in warm, humid conditions but will do just fine in dry, desert-like environments with regular mistings.
You can also run them under a bit of water if they appear to be particularly dry. It thrives with indirect sunlight. All day direct sunlight will lead to the plant over-drying and the tips burning. The Tillandsia does not require any soakings, only mistings 2-3 times a week, more often in hot and dry conditions like that of in the desert. It also loves fluorescent lighting making them ideal for office environments.
