How to grow microgreens at home? 

  1. Select a container having a 4-6 inch upper diameter.
  2. Fill the container with well-drained and nutrient-rich soil, leaving some space (About 1 inch) below the rim.
  3. Scatter seeds over potting soil in a planter and cover with another thin layer of soil.
  4. Mist the soil with water and cover the seed container with a transparent plastic paper.
  5. Place near a source of bright indirect sunlight or under artificial bright light.
  6. Continue to mist the seeds to keep the soil moist. Don’t overwater it.
  7. Remove plastic wrapping once seeds start to germinate.
  8. After germination, the Microgreens will be ready to harvest in 1–2 weeks.
  9. To grow another set of crops, either separate the roots and replant or dump the entire container in the compost and fill with soil mix to re-plant.

Things to keep in mind:

  1. Ensure to use good quality seeds. 
  2. Use good quality soil, free from chemicals, to secure that the microgreens grow well.
  3. The best medium for growing microgreens is the right mix of coco peat and fertile topsoil.
  4. Do not overwater your microgreens and ensure that there are seepage holes in the container.
  5. When placing the growing container do not expose it to direct sunlight, this might result in drying or burning tiny leaves.
