Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a perennial plant known for its beautiful floweÃÃ†à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ ¢ÃƒÆ’ƒÆ’ ¢ÃƒÆ’Æ’ ¢ÃƒÆ’ ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡ ¬Ãƒâ€¦ ¡ ¬ÃƒÆ’Æ’Ã ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ ¡ ¹ Also known as the Queen of the night as flowers bloom in the night only.

Flower heads are purple, hidden from view in layers of yellowish-green papery bracts, which provide protection from the cold mountain environment.

The flowers can be seen from July through September, after which the above-ground portions of the plant die back, becoming visible again in April.
