Description
Hypericum calycinum is a stoloniferous subshrub,typically growing 12 (less frequently to 18) high and 24 wide, which is frequently planted as a ground cover. Features large, rose-like, 5-petaled, yellow flowers (2 to 3 diameter) having numerous, bushy stamens with reddish anthe Flowers appear singly or in groups of 2 to 3 and cover the plant in summer. Oval to oblong, distinctively net-veined (from beneath) leaves (to 4 long) are rich green in sun but are a lighter, yellowish green in shade.
Hypericum perforatum, known as perforate St John s wort, common Saint John s wort and St John s wort, is a flowering plant in the family Hypericaceae. The common name St John s wort may be used to refer to any species of the genus Hypericum.

Planting and care
St. Johns wort makes an attractive ground cover and soil stabilizer. Once established, the plants need no care, and this makes them ideal for out-of-the-way locations. You can also use it as an edging or to mark boundaries and pathways where you dont want to obstruct the view. Other uses include containers, rock gardens and foundation plantings.
