Description
Manihot esculenta is a deciduous Shrub. It is a plant sometimes used as an herbal remedy. The root of the plant is also used to make tapioca.
It is a perennial shrub or a small tree grows more than 20 ft tall. Leaves are compound, dark green, palmately lobed, medium green. Leaf stalks are very long, up to 2 ft and they are red. Small, apetalous, greenish-white flowers in short terminal panicles bloom throughout the year. Flowers are unisexual.
Fruit is an ovoid 6-winged capsule. The plant is known for its tuberous edible roots, that are 8 to 30 in long and 1 to 3 diameter. The roots are eaten roasted or boiled almost all over India.Plant Specifications
