It is an annual or perennial herb. The rootstock is thick, woody. Leaf is sessile or shortly petioled, oblong-obovate, Flowers are yellow borne in panicles, joints of stalk bracteate. Flowers and fruits appear during September-March. Pappus 8 to 10 mm long, deciduous, homomorphic, of numerous setaceous rays.
