Indian Redwood is a huge tree. Bark used in the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, and fever and also as a general tonic.

Indian Redwood is a huge tree bearing deciduous foliage and having a tough bark exfoliating in plates or scales. The compound leaves are paripinnate. Leaflets are 3 to 6, elliptic or oblong, entire.

Flowers are greenish-white, borne in axillary and terminal panicles, appears in April-May; Fruits are smooth, black when ripe, Seeds are numerous, winged at both ends. Particularly prescribed in malaria cures hoarseness, applied to rheumatic swelling and used as a gargle in stomatitis, decoction used as vaginal douche in leucorrhoea. Bark: antipyretic, astringent, antidiarrhoeal, antidysenteric and bitter tonic.
