Selaginella rupestris

It is a species of spike-moss occurring in dry rocky places. Stems are horizontal, running above ground. It is widely creeping and branched, forming extensive mats. Stems are 0.5 mm in diameter. Leaves are small flattened, apex tapering with a very short, translucent.

Leaves are usually evergreen, sometimes turning bronzy or red-tinged. Plants bright olive green when wet or alive, pale coppery brown when dry or dead. Sporophylls arranged in 4 ranks, 2 mm long, ovate, acuminate. Spores on the stalk. it develops in spike-like structures called strobili.
