Description

Polygonatum cirrhifolium is a Perennial plant, used in Ayurveda as an aphrodisiac. The roots are cardiotonic, sialagogue, stimulant and tonic.

It is a tall erect, perennial herb, growing up to 4 feet high withwhorled (3 to 6) sessile, linear leaves having tendril-like tips. Flowers bloom from May to July. Flowers are white, green purplish or pink on short stocks.

The species are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees.The plant is self-fertile. The fruits are round blue-black berry. The seeds ripen from September to October. Rhizomes are thick and fleshy. It can grow in full shade or semi-shade. It prefers moist soil.
