Royal Jasmine is climbing shrubs, 2 to 4 m. Branchlets are round in cross-section, angular or grooved. Leaves are opposite, pinnately cut or compound with 5 to 9 leaflets. Flowers are borne in terminal or axillary, Bracts are linear, Flower-stalks are 0.5 to 2.5 cm, middle pedicel of cymes conspicuously shorter.
Sepals are subulate-linear, Flowers are white, opening flat-faced, petals often 5, oblong. Fruit is not seen. Flowering season is August-October. Jasmine oil or essence is used medicinally. It is said to stimulate the reproductive system as an aphrodisiac and as a muscle relaxant, by warming and softening nerves and tendons. An infusion of the flowers is used to relieve coughs. The flowers also used to treat headaches. weak eyes and scorpion stings applied externally, an infusion of the flowers is used to treat skin diseases.Plant Specifications
