A perennial herb with a robust taproot. Stems are generally are cylindrical without furrows or ridges. Leaves are fleshy, opposite and unequal. Inflorescences are Panicles or umbel-like clusters in the axils of the leaves. The flowers are tiny, pink and cream. The corolla is bell-shaped, 5-petalled.
