Description
It is a herbaceous perennial plant. Using its latex were found as antiasthmatic, in treating cuts and boils.
It is a profusely branching climber, grow a length of 15 m or more. It has short, knotty, 3 to 4 cm thick rootstock. The roots are numerous, long, very brittle and consist of fibers or fibrils. Leaves are ovate to orbicular, shining green, leathery cordate at base.
The climber can be recognized by its ovate-oblong, shiny leaves and divaricated fruits. Flowers are small, greenish-yellow outside and purplish within. Fruit is a striated, divaricated follicle. Seeds are ovate and elongate. Flowering and fruiting occur from August to December.Plant Specifications
