Aplinia is a tall, upright, herbaceous, evergreen plant in Zingiberaceae family. Leafy cane like stems arise from rhizomes. The rhizomes spread laterally in thick clusters, producing aerial shoots. The inflorescence is a compact spike with a cluster of bracts overlapping to form a funnel shape.
