Plantscaping (3/4) - Medium-sized plants that energize the workplace

In Part 1 and Part 2 of this series, we covered the rise of ‘plantscaping’ among corporate offices, how top co-working spaces are adopting this concept in designing the modern workplace and our suggestions among large plants for the workplace. In this article, we will focus on medium-sized indoor plants that fit well into the workplace.
Here are five medium-sized plants (2-3 ft.) that liven up the workplace with their bright, coloured leaves: -
1. Dieffenbachia
A broad-leaved plant containing white spots and flecks, the Dieffenbachia is an attractive indoor plant used for decorative purposes. It is easy to care for and maintain and works as a natural air purifier.
2. Philodendron
Philodendrons are among the most popular, tolerant, and durable of all house plants. Its paddle-shaped leaves are a bright, almost fluorescent colour and is a good air purifying plant.
3. Song of India
Native to Madagascar, Mauritius and other islands in the Indian Ocean, the ‘Song of India’ is a slow-growing plant . It has yellow stripes on short, narrow, pointed, green leaves, survives well in low light conditions and helps purify the air.
4. Bird Nest Fern
The Bird Nest Fern is so named as its leaves resemble bird’s eggs when they emerge from a central, funnel-shaped rosette. This fern has the unique ability to trap water and its leaves narrow gradually, tapering both towards the pointed tip and the base.
5. Ficus Elastica
Also known as the rubber plant, the Ficus Elastica is a popular, ornamental plant with a distinctive appearance. This plant has thick, waxy, oval-shaped leaves and develops an attractive reddish sheath at the tip of branches.
