Description for Phaius tankervilleae

Phaius tancarvilleae is a species of orchid widespread in the Indian Subcontinent, New Guinea, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia and certain islands of the Pacific.

Planting and care

The handsome foliage is large and palm-like, individual leaves being from 2 to 3 feet long and 5 or 6 inches wide, growth is upright and compact, so plant’s take little room in your window. The ground orchid is available online or mail order from many orchid specialists. However, due to modern day technology of cloning, more growers now grow Phaius orchid plants as a seasonal crop.
