Description for Caladium hortulanum
Large, spear- or arrowhead-shaped leaves on long stems rise directly from the tuber buried in the ground below. Depending on weather and soil, each leaf can grow up to 12 inches in length on 1-foot stems. Caladium hortulanum is also a very popular house plant. In the right climate, you can keep it outside in summer when the weather conditions are right and take it inside in winter.

Planting and care
|Need bright light but not direct sunlight.||Moist, rich soil.||When leaves appear, keep evenly moist. Never allow to dry out and keep humidity as high as practical.||70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.||Feed weekly with a diluted water-soluble fertilizer to assure continued growth of new leaves.|
Caring for Caladium hortulanum
- Caladium X hortulanum require a warm, moist soil. A minimum soil temperature of 21C (70F) is preferred. If planted too early in the spring, cool soil temperatures will cause tubers to rot before they sprout.

Ornamental use: It is excellent for providing foliage color spring, summer, and fall. This plant is primarily grown for its attractive foliage and is suitable for borders, containers and as a specimen.
