Description for Velvet Leaf Tree

It grows to 2 m tall, and has velvet-like heart-shaped leaves 15–25 cm broad. The flowers are yellow or orange, 4 cm diameter, maturing into button-shaped capsules which split lengthwise to release the seeds. The flowers and plants have a fruity scent.

Planting and care

  • Purple velvet plants can thrive in small pots for quite some time.
  • prune them heavily as they grow by cutting stems off at no more than 5" above the soil line.
  • ​Cuttings can be rooted well in jars of water. It typically takes 1-2 weeks for a cutting to root successfully.​

    Caring for Velvet Leaf Tree
