Description for Green Kale Edible

Brassica oleracea L. is the scientific name of the kale. The leaves grow from a central stem that elongates as it grows. Kale is a hardy biennial (it take two years to go to flower and complete its life-cycle), but it is usually grown as an annual. The leaves grow from a central stem that elongates as it grows. Kale seeds resemble those of cabbage in size, form, and color.

Planting and care

If you are starting them inside, then do so 5 to 7 weeks before the last expected frost. If you are direct sowing the seeds outside, do so 2 to 4 weeks before the last frost and/or anytime at least 10 weeks before the first frost of the next season. Space them 18 to 24 inches apart (for the transplanted plantlets). Set plants at the depth of half an inch or 1 inch. They sprout best when the soil temperature is around 70 degrees.
