Seed ball also known as earth balls is a ball consists of different seeds which are wrapped within a ball of clay, especially red clay. It consists of other additives like compost and humus. These all are placed around the seed and in the centre, microbial inoculants are provided.

Sometimes cotton fiberare also provided to strengthen it and protect it from harsh habitats during throwing and sowing it.The benefits of these seed balls are that it consists of a small amount of media with it which allow it to easily grow as soon as it comes in contact with the soil. The seed ball of different horticulture products areavailable like flowers, fruits, vegetables, etc.

Seeds contained in such balls then germinate in ideal conditions for suitable climate/region. Making seed ball is an ancient technique for propagating the plant from seed without opening up soil from any tool.

The mixture is moistened and formed into compact lumps, allowed to dry, and then cast out into fields at the appropriate time of year, depending on the seed mixture, climate and rainfall patterns so that they can easily germinate.
