About Phyllostachys Nigra

nigra is a large, elegant evergreen bamboo with arching canes, green at first becoming blackish-brown with maturity, and narrow-lanceolate leaves to 12cm in length.Phyllostachys are attractive, tall, clump-forming, evergreen bamboos with canes grooved on alternate sides between the nodes, and usually two leafy branches at each node.

Planting and care

When a bamboo is dehydrated, the leaves will curl upward to prevent further water loss. Water the bamboo thoroughly if you notice these symptoms. The leaves are anti-pyretic and diuretic. They are used internally in the treatment of fevers (especially infantile convulsions), vomiting and nosebleeds.
