About Datura

The blooms may be held upright or dangle like bells along the stem depending on the species. Flowers have a wonderful fragrance and are often followed by the development of interesting seed pods with a textured or spiny surface.

The foliage and flowers are beautiful but can be dangerous if consumed by humans. Take care to locate the plant away from children and pets.Datura is a genus of nine species of poisonous vespertine flowering plants belonging to the family Solanaceae.

They are commonly known as daturas, but also known as devil s trumpets, not to be confused with angel s trumpets, its closely related genus Brugmansia.
