The dragon fruit is a member of the cactus family. Dragon fruit is the fruit of several different cactus species indigenous to the Americas.

Dragon fruit usually refers to the fruit of the genus Stenocereus while dragon fruit refers to the fruit of the genus Hylocereus both in the family Cactaceae. Dragon fruit is cultivated in Southeast Asia, Florida in the United States, the Caribbean, Australia, and throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
