About Spice plants
A spice is a seed, fruit, root, bark, or other plant substance which are use as food adjuncts to add aroma and flavor. Condiments are also spices, products of which are used as food adjuncts to add taste only. Both spices and condiments contain essential oils which provide the flavor and taste.
Most of spices require little care and are nearly pest free. They can be grown in the garden along with flowers or as borders, along paths or in containers out doors or indoors, such as pepper, cinnamon and cloves and the spice seeds, sesame, poppy Curry Leaves, Piper nigrum (Kali Mirch), Cardamom, Elaichi and mustard.
Spices are mainly used for flavoring and they also have certain medicinal properties and are used in pharmaceutical, perfumery, cosmetics and several other industries. Their antimicrobial properties have long earned them an important place in food preservation methods such as drying and pickling.
