Tecoma plant, commonly known as cape honeysuckle, is a flowering, versatile evergreen that is suitable as a climbing vine, border plant, shrub or ground cover. Tecoma is a genus of 14 species of shrubs or small trees in the trumpet vine family, Bignoniaceae.
The light brown wood of this plant is hard and very durable and used in cabinet making, tools making and in building construction. This plant bear different colored flower which attract birds and butterflies. So if you love birds and butterflies make sure to grow this shrub in your garden.
It is one of the hardy, low-maintenance and easy to grow the plant. They require well-drained soil and full sun. In areas with hard frost, it usually grows as a shrub, but in mild climates can grow as a tree that reaches up to 25 feet tall. It is suitable for roadsides, parks and gardens for its fragrant and attractive bright yellow flowers.
