Description for Gloriosa Superba
It is a perennial herb growing from a rhizome. Rhizome circumference may be up to 15 to 20 cm. It is scandent, climbing using tendrils, the stem reaching 4 meters long. The showy flower has six tepals. The fruit is a fleshy capsule with red seeds.
Planting and care
It grows in many types of habitat. The plant can be propagated sexually by seed or vegetatively by dividing the rhizome. It can be easily be grown indoors. Plant in large pots with clay pellets on the bottom and filled with fresh potting compost, about 4 inches deep. Plant the tubers again in the spring in fresh potting compost, water, and feed. For transplanting, use 3 parts peat moss, 1 part sand and 1 part perlite.

- Keep it in a sunny spot and water regularly.
- The soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
- Apply balanced liquid fertilizer monthly.
- Reduce watering in the winter and after flowering.
