The red flowers are arranged in umbels. Individual flowers are irregular, with narrow segments which curve backward, and long projecting stamens. Strap-like grayish-green leaves appear in fall only after bloom is finished.

Planting and care
Lycoris require well-drained soil and will not thrive in soil that is overly moist. They should be planted in the spring in full sun in well-drained soil.
