P. oleracea is mostly annual, but it may be perennial in the tropics. Stems are purplish-red to green, forming mats. The leaves are fleshy. Flowers come in a group at the end of the stem. There are notched 4/5/6 petals.

Planting and care
Set out at last frost date. This plant is ideal for hot, humid climates and rocky, difficult areas of the garden. It spreads branches so while planting 2 plants, keep the distance between them is about half feet.
