The Boston fern is one of the most well-known ferns and admired for its desirable traits as a houseplant. Boston ferns are typically attractive, with long, graceful fronds bedecked with tiny leaves. It is a relatively tough fern, with a higher tolerance for light than other species, and as far as ferns go, they are more tolerant of dry conditions and easy to propagate.
An added bonus is that Boston ferns can be displayed in any number of ways, including on pedestals, in hanging baskets, as part of a grouping, or as lush specimen plants on the right windowsill.

Planting and care

Boston fern propagation may be accomplished via Boston fern shoots (also referred to as Boston fern runners) or by dividing Boston fern plants.
Boston fern runners, or stolons, is removed from a mature parent plant by taking the offset whose runners have formed roots where they come into contact with the soil.
The Boston fern shoots create a new separate plant.

Soil: Well drained fertile soil.
Water: Moderately
Temperature: 15 - 27 degrees C.
Fertilizer: Apply any organic fertilizer.

Caring for Nephrolepis Exaltata Bosteniensis

  • Boston ferns need a cool place with high humidity and indirect light.
  • Mist your fern once or twice a week to help it get the humidity it needs.
  • Keep the soil loose, well drained and well fertilize.
  • Do not expose the fern in bright direct sunlight, as it cause burning of leaves.
  • Do not overwater the plant, provide water only when the upper layer of soil becomes dry.

It is very low maintenance plant and good for growing in containers.
