Hamelia patens shrub may be grown as a perennial, it is evergreen. Firebush is a showy, fast-growing, semi-woody evergreen shrub that can get up to 3 tall under ideal conditions. It has whorled leaves, usually with three but occasionally as many as seven at each node. It will bloom year-round under favorable condition.
